Head to Over Yonder for Made From Scratch Temptations in the NC Mountains…
A quaint, historic house in the scenic Blue Ridge mountains is home to the scrumptious Over Yonder Restaurant. This restaurant was started by one of the founding families of Valle Crucis, the Taylor Family. Just down the road from the original Mast General Store, Over Yonder restaurant is the perfect stop after shopping. We are forever grateful to Mountain Dog and Friends for the recommendation and for setting up reservations for us and our dogs.
Over Yonder is very accommodating to dogs and thankfully did not kick us out for our barky furbabies. There are plenty of beautiful spots to walk around with dogs while you are waiting on food (although we did not have to wait long at all!).
The menu is the perfect spot for vegetarian and non-vegetarian eaters. Vegetarian eaters will be especially happy for plentiful options, even on surprising appetizers. Even better, everything is made from scratch!
Don’t miss these unbelievable menu items…
The best thing we ordered (if we have to choose!) was the Twice Fried Potato Poutine appetizer. Covered in white gravy and cheese curds, these potatoes are shockingly vegetarian prepared. This appetizer comes prepared in an individual skillet, which is another relief for vegetarians. The dish is big enough for two…with a few hand slaps to your dining partner to back off. 😉
I sipped on the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake cocktail, made with Catdaddy Spiced Moonshine, vanilla bean syrup, pineapple juice and cherry. If you love sweet drinks, you will love this choice! Over Yonder does not skimp on the alcohol and one drink is all you need. However, good luck trying just one with the fantastic selection of unique cocktails.
If and when you decide to go, be sure and make reservations so you can guarantee a spot at this hidden gem. Let me know what you order!
