These Vegetarian Sausage Balls are just as addictive as the real things…
Yes, I said “Vegetarian.” How can it be sausage? They use soy products and flavor with the same spices that are used in real sausage. This product works really well in all the recipes that call for sausage. The consistency is the same and for all you vegetarians, it is a great substitute for all your favorite sausage dishes.
With football season in full swing, tailgating has become as important as the game. We decided to focus our recipes for the next few weeks on items that would be great for your next tailgate event or party. Finger foods work great at these because you can walk around with these bite size treats as you mingle with your friends or are cheering on your favorite team.
I have found that letting the cream cheese soften makes the mixing easier. Unless you have a mixer with a paddle attachment, the best way to mix together is just dive in with both hands.
Vegetarian Sausage Balls Recipe
Combine first four ingredients and mix til all are incorporated.
- 1 lb. vegetarian sausage
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/4 cup Bisquick
- 8 oz. Shredded cheddar cheese
2 Tbsp. Butter, melted
Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.
Once you have it mixed, take a small amount and roll into a ball the size of a walnut. Finish out the rolling until you have them all done. Place them on a sprayed cookie sheet.
Drizzle the melted butter over each one. I don’t normally do this step for my real meat sausage balls but I find that this keeps these moister.
In thirty minutes you will have a sumptuous little treat that just may fool everyone into thinking these are the real deal. Check back next Friday for another great tailgate special. Enjoy!
