Looking for a delicious Gaston County Mexican Restaurant?
I have been looking for the best Mexican food in Gaston county and surrounding areas for a long time. While there are a few great options, I believe I have found my new favorite. In late 2017, Viva Tequis opened and my husband and I finally got a chance to stop by.
Located in downtown Gastonia, you can pop in after a stroll down Main Street or park around back and walk in. The back entrance of the building faces the Rotary Centennial Pavillion.
After reading rave reviews and recommendations (thanks, Gaston Eats!), my husband and I were excited to check it out. The food did not disappoint! When I think about the food, the first word that comes to mind is “fresh”. Everything tasted so fresh!
What we ate at Viva Tequis…
- Black Bean Queso
- Shredded Beef Taco
- Vegetable Tacos
- Strawberry Margaritas
I also tried all of the homemade sauces that were brought out but went a little overboard on the green sauce (whoops – jalapeno sauce!). All of the sauces are delicious but the red and green sauces are definitely hot! I tried all four in very small dots in one of my tacos and that was my favorite combination!
The prices were about what I expected – but still very good for all of the food we got. We spent $22 which is insanely good for two meals, an appetizer, a sweet tea and a Margarita. Wow!
Viva Tequis has some of the best Mexican food I have ever had – and the menu offers far beyond tasty tacos. Everything from the queso to the frozen margaritas are absolutely delicious. I highly recommend giving it a try!
The backstory…
Viva Tequis is the result of a new, fresh take on the formerly owned “Tequilas”, which closed in 2016. The name translates to “Long Live Tequilas”
